As the nation’s first bioart education program, Hyomo Sound Club offers students the opportunity to explore the intersection of science and art.
With yeast serving as the course’s primary collaborator, students are introduced to the artistic possibilities of living materials and engage in thoughtful discussions on ethics, biotechnology, and the evolving concept of bioart. The seven-part curriculum begins with foundational lab techniques and an introduction to the idea of life as artistic material, ultimately culminating in the creation of yeast-driven musical instruments.
